Murison attempted to analyze the millions of orbit-orbit distance function parameter solutions with Maple. Maple proved inadequate (large-file I/O is not its strong suit), and Murison is writing a C++ program for the analysis. He also worked on the introduction of the paper describing results from the first stage of the orbit-orbit distance project.

Summer student Munteanu has been working on a numerical program that calculates elliptic restricted three-body problem (ERTB) orbits. He is now able to create rough visualizations of chaotic trajectories and fractal phase space structures. For example, here is an image of the amount of time before capture of a particle by either of the two finite masses in the restricted three-body problem:

Murison assisted the FTS project by generating observing lists of bright stars, exoplanets, and spectroscopic binaries within reach of the Clay Center telescope for the coming months.
