Murison went to Boston, to the Clay Center, to help upgrade and test the USNO FTS. While there, he also tested the adaptive optics module and upgraded the AO control software. Murison also created a stunning image of the FTS starlight (blue) and metrology (red) beam paths within the instrument. The image is a combination of 20 separate time exposures of Hajian waving an index card in the beam paths.
Murison was asked to technically evaluate the feasibility of interrupting the converging starlight beam of the OBSS instrument with a diffraction grating in order to measure radial velocities. He has completed that project and written a technical memorandum detailing his findings. The results are not surprising in the least.
